Mark and Leah were about 14 years old when they first met during Greek Orthodox Summer Camp in Northern Michigan (MDSC). Leah and Mark’s sister Katie became best friends right off the bat, so it was only natural that Leah and Mark enjoyed their own fast friendship. Leah confesses that she had quite a crush on Mark from the beginning, but Mark had already relegated her to the friend zone on account of her being his sister’s best friend. Years went by, and Katie and Leah remained constants in each other’s lives. In 2011, Mark had just finished his first year at West Point Military Academy, and Leah was preparing to move to Savannah, GA. That summer at camp, they reconnected and exchanged phone numbers. Leah was too nervous to text Mark herself, so she handed Katie her phone and Katie proceeded to text her own brother posing as Leah! This covert plan worked out wonderfully for everyone involved, because Leah and Mark started dating shortly afterward. Working against long distance odds, the two dated on and off again for the years following. Every time they broke up, they’d grow up a little more, and then find their way back to one another as naturally as breathing. Finally, in November of 2018, after deciding that they were done wasting any more time apart, they got back together for good. They agreed to fly back and forth to each other every 2 weeks until the wedding. In the off weeks, they closed the distance with remote Disney movie dates and long phone calls. Fittingly, these two Disney fans and got engaged at Magic Kingdom in the summer of 2019! The wedding day was a flurry of excitement and happy tears, as the two closely knit families came together to celebrate Leah and Mark in grand Greek fashion.
