I met this intrepid couple in 2019, and instantly knew I was stepping into an unforgettable story. What I didn’t know was that Alecia would become a dear friend and supporter over the course of the coming two years as we navigated a pandemic, the death of a sibling, a tumultuous election, social drama, and the eventual postponing of the momentous event that brought us together in the first place.
Alecia and Danny are their own brand of awesome, and their individuality shines through in everything they put their hands to. Their one-of-a-kind wedding day was certainly no exception, melding their Korean and American cultures with vibrant whimsy. From the bride’s custom blue gown (only the first of her two dresses) to the painstakingly hand-painted duck favors at each place setting, the whole affair glowed with thoughtful significance. Their western ceremony was followed by a beautiful Korean Pyebaek ceremony, and the celebrations lasted long into the warm June night.
Rewinding 6 years: Alecia and Danny first connected on Tinder, and found an instant bond. Danny’s reserved disposition was a distinct but perfect contrast to Alecia’s vivacious personality. Alecia mentioned an appreciation for the show “Bones” in her Tinder bio. In Danny’s first message to her, he asked if she might be the Booth to his Brennan. “Considering most guys aren’t this well thought out,” Alecia says, “I was impressed.” Their first date was on March 1st, 2015, and it was kismet. Due to their opposite work schedules, time together was scarce but sweet. Only two weeks after that first date, the two of them made the decision to move in together. “It was impulsive and completely insane, but the best decision we ever made”.
And so began the love story that would culminate in the beautiful celebration of June 5th, 2021: A treat for the eyes, and a joy for the heart.
